Sequence Description
These courses focus on the diagnostic choices in mathematics education and their potential for identifying problem areas related to children’s acquisition of mathematical skills and the targeted teaching pedagogy for addressing specific deficiencies to maximize mathematical conceptualization.
Graduate Students will:
Learn to assess mathematical knowledge using psychometric instruments.
Learn to assess mathematics attitude and anxiety.
Learn to interpret psychometric results.
Learn to teach to specific criteria as indicated by psychometric instruments.
Develop lessons, activities, and projects to communicate mathematically with consideration for situated cognition.
Assess diagnostic practices for mathematics knowledge using psychometric instruments.
Teach developmentally appropriate mathematics as determined by content knowledge instruments attenuating for mathematics attitude and anxiety.
Maintain student interest in or develop intrinsic motivation for participants.
Learn to assess teaching and student learning at the completion of each lesson, activity, and project.
Collect research quality data for every interaction with students whether first-hand or as the secondary data collector and use that data in designing lessons, activities, and modifying projects.

Meixia Ding Though cooperative learning in mathematics classroom has been researched for a long time, the efficiency of actual classroom teaching is unsatisfying. The critical component of cooperative learning is the quality of student discussion which is mainly determined by teacher interventions. In this study, the author will focus on teacher’s intervention in cooperative learning in mathematics classroom. |
