SPANISH AND EDUCATION IN COSTA RICA
SUMMER 2004
SOME EXPECTATIONS OF PARTICIPATING TAMU STUDENTS...



  1. Students will attend and complete 12 weeks (Spring or Fall) or 4 weeks (Summer) of Spanish language training.
  2. Students will enroll in at least one course, either SPED 683 or EPSY 484, through the Department of Educational Psychology.
  3. Students will live with Costa Rican families throughout their stay in the country.
  4. A sincere effort will be made to immerse oneself in the Spanish language.
  5. Local codes of professional conduct will be understood, respected, and followed.
  6. Local customs of personal conduct will be understood, respected, and followed.
  7. Local laws will be obeyed.
  8. TAMU laws will be obeyed while abroad.
  9. Extreme caution will be used at all times to ensure one's own safety and health.
  10. Students will not leave their site without informing a faculty advisor and receiving express permission.
  11. Respect and courtesy will be demonstrated to Costa Rican families, professionals, and other collaborators in this project.
  12. Students and faculty will strive to be exemplary representatives of their profession, of Texas A&M University, and of their country.
